GROW Teacher
Programme Description

GROW (Gain Reading Oral and Writing skills) is a weekly structured skills-based programme to help struggling readers aged 5-7 acquire reading skills.

Role Description
  • Conduct weekly lessons (90 min sessions) for small groups of children aged 5-7
  • Attend all compulsory training
    [Lesson plans and materials are all provided]
Locale/Day/Time
  • Island-wide: Weekday afternoons
  • Henderson Rd: Saturday mornings and/or afternoons
  • Online: Weekday afternoons and Saturdays
Commitment & Skills required
  • Aged 18 and above preferred
  • Commit weekly over 6 months or more
  • Familiarity in phonics preferred.
  • Able to manage and engage small groups of young children
Story Reader @ StoryLAB
Programme Description

Story L.A.B. (Literacy Awareness Builders) aims to bring the experience of “bedtime stories” (shared book reading) into the community so that children, especially from non-English speaking homes, can enjoy the experience and its benefits.

Role Description

Volunteers read aloud English stories to children aged 4 to 8 in small groups and engage them in simple story-related discussions

  • Online, Mondays, 7.30pm – 8pm and/or 8pm – 8.30pm
Commitment & Skills required
  • Aged 17 and above preferred
  • Commit weekly over 6 months or more
  • Able to manage and engage small groups of young children
Treasure Befriender @ Club Treasure

Programme Description

Club TREASURE is a one-stop centre providing literacy exposure and support to children aged 4-7. We hope to provide a nurturing and fun space where children will get lots of encouragement to discover the joys of reading and be engaged in activities that will develop creativity and critical thinking.

Role Description

Engage children aged 4-9 in activities (e.g. crafts, puzzles, lego etc.) and ensure their safety at the centre.

Locale/Day/Time

  • Kembangan Chai Cee Area, Wednesdays OR Fridays from 3 to 7pm

Commitment & Skills required

  • Aged 17 and above preferred
  • Commit weekly over at least 1 month
  • Able to manage and engage small groups of young children
Befriender @ Youth Drop-in Centre *Recruiting*
Programme Description

We run after-school Youth drop-in centres in various locations around Singapore. Our school-based centres, known as MACE, and community-based centres, known as PACE, are supported by the Ministry of Education and People’s Association respectively.

Role Description
  • Befriend and converse with youths
  • Coordinate or conduct activity (badminton, basketball or other games that volunteers are keen to run)
  • Academic Coaching
  • Ensure the safety of youths during programme

  • Island-wide MACE: Weekday 2.30–5.30pm
  • PACE:
    Potong Pasir Community Club (PPCC) – Wednesday 2-5pm, Friday 1-4pm
    Marsiling Community Club (MCC) – Tuesdays & Wednesdays 3-6pm

  • Preferably aged 20 and above
Volunteer Counsellor *Recruiting*
Programme Description

We provide counselling services to youths between 12 to 25 years of age who experience mental health issues or face personal or interpersonal challenges in their lives.

Role Description
  • Provide individual counselling for youths in need between 12 to 25 years of age.
  • Conduct family mediation sessions if required.
  • To keep confidential records of counselling sessions to our C3 case management system.
  • To manage own caseloads including arranging counselling appointments.
  • Attend mandatory Clinical Supervision sessions and training.
  • To uphold C3 Counselling and Care values of support, respect, and empathy equality to all our clients.
Locale/Day/Time

Island-wide: Weekdays, either morning or afternoon sessions, depending on school

Commitment & Skills required

Volunteers are required to have a Master’s Training in Counselling. Prior experience in counselling with youths is a plus.

Active Aging Events (Ad-hoc)
Programme Description

Our Active Aging programme encourages seniors to stay healthy and active, both physically and mentally. Through a wide array of activities, we seek to engage the seniors and enrich their life experiences.

Role Description
  • Engage seniors in groups or individually
  • Chaperon seniors for outings and ensure their safety (outdoor)
  • Facilitate the running of activities (indoor)
  • Assist service users with mobility issues where required
  • Help in attendance taking, setting up of logistics or other duties assigned
    Volunteers will be invited into a pool of other ad-hoc volunteers and opportunities will be disseminated from there

Active Aging (Regular) *Recruiting*
Programme Description

Our Active Aging programme encourages seniors to stay healthy and active, both physically and mentally. Through a wide array of activities, we seek to engage the seniors and enrich their life experiences.

Role Description
  • Assist in regular Exercise/Games programme
  • Ensure safety of seniors during the event
  • Assist service users with mobility issues where required
  • Help in attendance taking, setting up of logistics or other duties assigned

Befriender (Home Visits) *Recruiting*
Programme Description

Our Befriending programme offers friendship, social and psycho-emotional support to seniors who are lonely. Without intervention, these seniors are at risk of being socially isolated.

Role Description
  • Visit the senior (in pairs) ideally once a week for 1 to 1.5 hours each visit. The visitation day and time depends on the senior and volunteer.
  • Engages the senior in conversation, games or simple exercise
  • Submit visitation report to PM within 3 days after visit
  • Open to bringing seniors for medical appointments, etc.
  • Other services a befriender can choose to provide:
    • Home Improvement Services. For example, house cleaning or painting
    • Information services, such as dissemination of government announcements and reading of letters
    • Food distribution to the senior

  • Have a heart for and enjoy relating with seniors
