Young adults making a difference

December 04, 2018

Camilia Aw (middle of picture)

Don’t let her petite frame fool you – when she signed up as a volunteer, Camilia was a young working adult who has already been in the workforce for over 3 years! Just like all working adults, work takes up most of our time. Yet it certainly did not stop her from doing something more for others.

Since the starting phases of Camp planning, she has shown great initiative, from structuring the camp schedule to proactively checking in if there were any issues or things that needed to be done. Despite being a busy young working adult, she would take time out to buy necessary camp materials and source for vendors. Even during the camp, she would constantly labour behind the scenes to ensure that staff and fellow volunteers on the frontlines could focus on engaging with the campers. Lawrenz, our Youth Programme Executive shared that she was “An absolute godsend!”.

“Facilitating Camp Ace 2018 is an amazing experience for me. I get to see how campers learn from the different activities planned for the camp. Also, i appreciate the new bonds and special friendships with facilitators and campers during the camp :)”
